by Chansoda on May 4, 2015May is here. A lot happens when the weather gets nicer! People are out and about enjoying the sunshine. More major spring cleaning going on. Holly, stares you down and acts despondent because she wants non stop play in the sunshine and you just have too much to do.
I love this nice weather and it definitely keeps the weekend full. Friday we headed in to NYC for a friend’s wedding. Congrats Stephanie and Tom! Then Saturday morning, bright and early Karla volunteered for Home Front where as I decided to sleep in a bit and hang out with Holly. There were plenty of projects at our place. Our screened in porch is looking really shabby so she put me in charge of that while she took care of the landscaping. That was a lot of work but we made progress.
We also had Peyton’s birthday party to go to this weekend, the little guy is turning 6 so I was around to capture a few shots. Last year, his birthday photo made it in to the Smithsonian APA gallery. It was a fun time with friends, food, and many adorable little kids.
Sunday morning we got up to join our friend Jeannine for a 4 mile run, and by run I mean I jog/walk with all intention of running. Ha! Waaay behind Karla and Jeannine. Definitely need to practice running and get back in to shape, we signed up for a half marathon in the fall!

by Chansoda on February 9, 2015Dengue Fever came out with their new album, “The Deepest Lake” and it’s awesome. The merchandise I ordered came in the mail the other day, sweet! We just wanted to show our support for such a great band. Unfortunately, my turntable is in need of a new needle, so I couldn’t play the record, but we live in a digital world, so it’s not like I haven’t been playing the album on repeat anyways.
I think Holly looks rather sharp in a kroma (traditional cambodian scarf).
Being a first generation Khmer in the U.S., growing up people didn’t even know where Cambodia was on the map, let alone the atrocities that brought us here as refugees. So, to discover an American band that was so passionate about playing Cambodian rock n roll, that they even went out to search for a Khmer lead singer (the ever so talented Chhom Nimol) was pretty surreal. Listening to how their music evolved from covers of oldies to an infusion of all kinds of genres to create these wonderful unique sounds, I love it.
Check out some of their music!

by Chansoda on January 7, 2015Hello January. We are in the heart of winter, nice thing is, the fireplace! We love using our really cool fireplace. It’s so cozy. But it’s damn freezing here. Our house was built as a summer home in a small lake community, so, insulation in this main living area is not great. Eventually, that problem will be addressed. Until then, sit next to the warm fire, curled up like Holly is.

by Chansoda on October 31, 2014Happy Halloween. Or in Holly’s case, not so happy. The costume didn’t stay on too long. We were trying to be “Pollination,” Holly was the bee and Karla and I would be flowers.
So, she’s not a fan of this, but it’s just too darn funny.
Enjoy and be safe!

by Chansoda on December 10, 2013Working from home to avoid driving in this weather and a penguin came to play in the yard. 🙂
Holly thinks because I’m home today, I’m supposed to be her play buddy all day (this dog has so much energy but I love it), so she kept bringing me ornaments off the christmas tree (which is not cool). I’m glad she encourages me to take breaks from work to play a little, though she is not happy with this dress up.
